You need only bring your food and drinks, as all cottages are fully
self-contained. All household linen is supplied, but you may need your
own swimming towels. Please bring your own tennis racquets (hire racquets
available), fishing gear, pushbikes, binoculars and CDs & DVD's. You may also
wish to bring your own windsurfer, motor or sailing boat if you have
one. However, it is always advisable to check water conditions with us first. Rubber boots are handy for lakeside walks following wet weather.
Please do not bring pets, candles or children's felt-tip pens.
We have had good reports from previous guests regarding the boarding
kennels at Tailem Bend.
Most guests choose to prepare their own meals as the cottages all
have a stove, oven, microwave and barbecue. If you wish, we can place
provisions for a hearty cooked breakfast in your cottage. These include
a choice of cereals, orange juice, our own delicious homemade bread,
selection of jams, bacon, eggs, milk and good tea and coffee. If you
do not feel like cooking dinner or lunch, there is a good coffee shop
and a restaurant in Meningie, and a pub and courthouse cafe in Wellington,
all about 20 minutes drive from Poltalloch Station. Please let us
know if you are interested in a local caterer providing meals for
Smoking is not permitted inside the cottages and other buildings at
Poltalloch. Smokers' buckets are provided on each cottage verandah.

burning fire and a good source of heating. In winter you will be provided
with sufficient wood to have a good fire each evening. The cottages

The two supermarkets are open 7 days a week until 6.00pm. Coorong
Mullet, a delicious local fish, can be purchased from the butchers
or directly from fishermen in Meningie. Most general supplies can
also be purchased in Tailem Bend.
There is quite good coverage for handheld CDMA and Next G mobile phones at Poltalloch
Station. Standard digital mobile phones have a more limited reception,
which seems to vary depending on the conditions of the day and where
one is standing. Generally speaking, there is virtually no reception
for Optus phones, and hand-held Vodaphone and Telstra phones can make
quite clear calls at times. Most guests with car-kits for Telstra
and Vodaphone mobile phones are able make clear phone calls most of
